Cultural Humility as a Foundation for Clinical Success: Addressing Implicit Bias, Antiracism, and Inclusive Care
Cultural humility is essential to delivering high-quality, patient-centered oral health care in increasingly diverse communities. This program explores cultural humility as a foundational clinical skill and differentiates it from traditional models of cultural competence. Participants will examine how implicit bias shapes clinical decision-making, communication, and patient experiences, including for individuals who identify as same-gender loving and LGBTQIA+.
The course will introduce antiracist frameworks as practical approaches to strengthening inclusive care delivery and reducing inequities within dental settings. Through reflection and applied strategies, attendees will learn how to integrate cultural humility into daily practice, foster trust across diverse populations, and evaluate how antiracist clinical approaches contribute to improved patient outcomes and health equity.
Educational Objectives:

Examine how implicit bias influences clinical decision-making and patient experiences, including individuals who identify as same-gender loving and LGBTQIA+.
